So far today the 4th of July

To the left the Garlic now drying. Bottom picture is Garlic as it was in early June The Great Garlic Scape or Something I did not know… Steam or Stir Fry Garlic Flowers The garlic tops, called flowers or garlic scapes, are a gourmet delight! Steam them whole and serve with melted butter like asparagus. Cut them into short lengths to add to a stir fry. They have a delicate garlic flavour that gives a subtly different and delicious flavor to the sauce. More recipes …Just a few minutes after 9 a.m. the sun is bearing down with unyielding diligence, but both garlic beds are ready for their transition. Use of a green manure crop, before going to seed, will reduce annual weed competition. Both beds have been tilled and this evening I shall sow a combination of Hairy vetch and red clover as a cover crop. This mixture should yield its intended end and become green manure. Also know as soil management. The benefits are endless, as the garlic has leeched most of the nutrients out of the soil they were in. Adding nitrogen and biomass. More on that at this site: Almost 2 p.m. and the thunder is rolling around in the sky like a bad stomachache. The breeze is glorious, the humidity not as oppressive. BORBORYGMI this is really neat! Almost ready to set off some minimal fireworks…we got them back in April when we were in Atlanta. The rain, 1.3 inches today has put a DAMPER on what we wanted to do. Picture Tomorrow
