An early Fathers Day

There are 15 days until Father's Day. But Yesterday was the gift giving of goo gobs of perennials to go around Sarah’s Pond because my Sweetie said it looked to bare. We are placing and re placing the still potted plants to get an idea of just what goes where. It just seemed the proper thing to do this early as we are so pleased with the pond and want it to look loved. I am off for a quest of yet one more item that will dress the area. This morning Jack and Missy CALL Ducks and friend The Senator are enjoying an early dip!

What a great looking pond/s. All that hard work really paid off. I dug one about the size of your top pond and it was a backbreaker especially digging through dry hard clay. It was on a slope so leveling it was hard too. Despite a filtering and UV system we had a difficult two years to keep it clear. Now we seem to have the right amount of shade and biologicals to stabilize the system and we can enjoy the koi, shubunkins and comets and occasional frog. Still have to clean the filter though which is a yucky business. With a pond that big, watch out for great blue herons.

Thanks Ki. As far as the work we are now attending to the outside and locating proper spots for the two new trees before we dig the holes. Frogs have already claimed part ownership much to my delight as I really enjoy them.

The Great Blue Heron seems content with our farm pond and the creek…so far…

We don't have nearby streams or lakes but we've had a frog and only one frog each year for three years running in the smaller pond. It's a mystery where they come from.

Be very alert that the blue heron doesn't decimate your koi collection. A pet store owner was lamenting that some prized specimen koi of his were eaten by a heron. He was heartsick.
