While there was the Mandatory Safety Drill we did get to our rooms and had time to semi unwind from the arduous trip. As we cast off from Venice we faced 625 nautical miles before us [@719miles]. There was a Welcome Snack waiting us plus a late evening snack from 10:30 to 11:00 p.m. At our dinner we met the crew and staff. I will later post those pictures with this short story to entice you to come back later to see the pictures. As seems to be standard on cruises, the ships photographer was ready. As he took our pictures I took his. A delightful laugh followed my merrymaking.
We are heading to Patras, Greece to for an excursion to Ancient Corinth. Most of the day will be off ship and lots of walking upon the beautiful marble and stones. Patras is the third-largest city of Greece and the capital of the prefecture of Achaea, located in northern Peloponnese, 215 kilometers to the west of Athens. The Patras metropolitan area is a conurbation of a quarter of a million inhabitants.[1] The core settlement has a history of four millennia, and in the Roman times it became a cosmopolitan centre of the eastern Mediterranean whilst, according to Christian tradition, it was the place of Saint Andrew's martyrdom. Dubbed as Greece's Gate to the West, Patras is a commercial hub, while its busy port is a nodal point for trade and communication with Italy and indeed with the rest of Western Europe.
My travel compannion was delighted that our room did not have a balcony because the moving water is NOT a good thing for her to stomack. I on the other hand …went topside often because I love seeing and smelling the water. It all worked out well she is a rather neat woman. Now as we set sail the sunset was awesome and much more ahead for us to take in.
