Headed for Kavala, Greece

and Ancient Greek Φιλιπποι, Philippoi We head back to the ship after a glorious tour and one totally awesome purchase of a fine cotton and silk embroidered coverlet. The shopping has been quite sparse. A few pictures before a good dinner then Passenger Talent night and Rupert was a Hoot.
Many SMART CARS over there, they are too cute! The Bus driver said that a liter of gas was @ $4.oo OUCH!
Mona Lisa named as first ocean-going campus. This ship was in port as we were leaving and the conversation from our crew was the line had gone bankrupt and the staff and crew had to depart in a day’s time.
After the search by seven international universities for an ocean-going campus, the Mona Lisa has been chosen and renamed The Scholar Ship. Mona Lisa entered service as the trans-Atlantic liner Kungsholm in 1966, before being purchased by P&O in 1978 to be operated as Sea Princess and later Victoria. She was sold in 2002 to Holiday Kreuzfahrten and since operated as the Mona Lisa.
The Scholar Ship is set to make her maiden voyage in September 2007 with 600 students on board to experience a multicultural academic and living environment. During the 16-week semester, students will visit ports around the world, including Panama City, Lisbon, Papeete, Sydney, Shanghai, Okinawa and Kobe. The University of California, University of Ghana, Australia's own Macquarie University and Cardiff University are among those involved in the program.
