Sky watch Friday ~ Good morning Sun

Spring is almost here! The lyrics[1] were written by Eleanor Farjeon in 1922 and are found in the hymnals of many denominations.[2] The original poem can be found in the anthology "Children's Bells" under Farjeon's original title A Morning Song (For the First Day of Spring), published by Oxford University Press in 1957. The tune to which it is normally sung is called "Bunessan", based upon a Scottish Gaelic traditional melody. Before Farjeon's words, it was used as a Christmas carol which began "Child in the manger, Infant of Mary", translated from the Gaelic lyrics written by Mary MacDonald. [3] The English-language Roman Catholic hymnal also uses the tune for the hymn "This Day God Gives Me". Morning Has Broken

As Sung by Cat Stevens

Lyrics by Eleanor Farjeon

Date of Birth

13 February 1881, London, England, UK

Date of Death5 June 1965, Hampstead, London, England, UK

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the word
Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day

I'll know spring is really on it's way when I see my first Canadian geese of the season...or hear my first chick-a-dee-dee-dee. The chickadees have been here all winter but I haven't heard them sing.

I love that Cat Stevens. I just discovered him last year! I have bought all his old work. Your photos are something for me to look forward to: spring will be about two more months here. No end in sight actually today. Beatufiul My SWF is here. Thank you.

I love that golden morning light you captured. We came in like a lamb sadly but by March 3 sent to the basement with the first tornado -- much more like a lion.
