Turnip Flower Cheesy Turnips and Carrots

"Milk-tasting turnips and carrots are wonderfully enhanced by ginger, onion and a mouth-watering creamy cheese sauce in this super side dish. The serving bowl is always empty at the end of the meal. -- Sandra Melnychenko, Grandview, Manitoba"

Stir in cheese until melted; stir in the vegetables and heat through.

THEN I found
Check the link it sounds YUMMY The Irish used turnips as their "Jack's lanterns" originally. But when the immigrants came to America, they found that pumpkins were far more plentiful than turnips. So the Jack-O-Lantern in America was a hollowed-out pumpkin, lit with an ember.
Well MY TURNIP has nothing to do with any of this!
Nope it is my silly way of telling someone that they are special. All ya gotta do is get a seed packet, enclose it in a card and makes someone’s day.

@@@@@@@

I got this [the picture did not turn out too well, too dark…it is a new set of fireplace tools] [with a shovel that WORKS] for my Sweetie, AND ON SALE ~~~ YA ½ OFF, how kewl is that. The reason I did? Well yesterday as I was preparing the French Onion Soup, I took a break and cleaned the ashes out of the fireplace.
@@@@
Do you know what the floor looked like when the shovel pivoted out of the rod it was screwed into and onto the FLOOR? YIKES, YE GADS and Gadzooks. Ashes all over… Needless to say I was irked… ;O @@@@@@@@
Now this will not happen… but then I COULD have waited for my Sweetie to clean the ashes, and it would have happened to him… Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm trying to visualize that TEE HEE!
@@@ Think it was better I made an ASH out of myself! Pun INTENDED!

You are a very funny lady... and I mean that in a very nice way.
Thanks for another recipe for me to try..
As for your Turnip card.. Yesterday Big Peter came to my house with Six large Duck eggs.... he always as two fried and the others boilded for later. Jane was working and would be home late so I said that I'd fry them for him.. He wouldn't have that.. Jane dose them just right he said. But Pete she will not feel like cooking them tonight.

Peter got his box of craft stuff out he keeps at our house and made Jane a 'Happy Cooking My Eggs Card'.. I kid you not... complete with one of his pictures on the the front and done on Gold card.

Jane opened the card when she came in, was very pleased and saw the funny side of it and kissed his cheek.. give me 10 minutes Peter she said and I'll cook them... ha! how spoiled is he.

Thanks Tom...funny is good, I do believe your sincerity though. Peter does indeed sound like he is spolied...
Duck eggs are awesome. I snatch some on occassion, but never have fried them...they are too precious to me.

Instead I bake with them.

Here are some sites that Peter might take a GANDER at...lol

Using this duck egg recipe you won’t even need to tell people you substituted duck eggs in, everyone trying them will want more. These scones can be used as a breakfast food or just as a snack at a party or around the house.
To make the scones you’ll need:
· 2 duck eggs that have been beaten,
· 2 cups of unbleached flour,
· 1 tablespoon baking powder,
· 3 separate tablespoons of sugar,
· ¼ teaspoon of salt,
· 1/3 cup of cold butter,
· ½ cup of whip cream,
· ½ cup chocolate chips,
· ½ cup of chopped hazelnuts, and
· ¼ cup raspberry preserves.
Cut the butter into chunks and place in a large bowl, and then add the flour, baking powder, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and salt.
Using your fingers mix this all together until it’s crumbly. In another whip the eggs and whip cream to make a smooth mixture, take tablespoon out and set aside.
Take the rest in the bowl and add to the dry mixture, beat with a fork until it’s fluffy. Toss this with the nuts and chocolate chips to an even distribution.
Place dough on floured surface and coat both sides, kneed the dough gently 6 times. Butter up a cookie sheet and cut out little circle of dough about an inch think. Once the dough has been place cut them into 6-8 slices like a pizza. Press in on the wide end of each wedge and then glaze the rounds with the tablespoon of the duck egg mixture. Spread the preserve in the cracks of the wedges and sprinkle sugar over each round.
Bake for 25 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

You will not be the only one that enjoys this duck egg recipe that will very simple to prepare.

PISH POSH IMAC, Ya need to try them another way. My Grammy always insisted that any good stew or soup needed at least ONE turnip to make it good. Grammy was right about EVERYTHING…;)
