Sky Watch Friday ~ the Lunar eclipse

See Dot HERE~~~~~~~~~
I reviewed the pictures I took last evening of the Lunar eclipse. I managed to go out @ every 10 minutes. That is until the eclipse was ready to go the other way…bedtime for me…plus it was @ 15 degrees outside. At this point I can say I am pleased with what I was able to get. I feel sure others will have better pictures, and that is SUPER by me. Makes me start thinking about another camera… HA HA.
Today to edit what I think is good and pass on for the Sky watch. Bottom line, despite the cold, it was so pretty. We did see that red haze, which seems to have come through in several of my pictures…
My little Canon Power Shot S2 IS did not do a bad job! I just knew that the sky would be clear…even after going to bed; we opened the shade to the skylight over our bed and continued to monitor the moon. Soon it was like a Giant Pizza pie in my eye!
Has some super pictures…[I am comparing with what I have ;)]
Plus they tell what camera was used etc.
Valuable info for sure![still thinking about a new camera… ;)
I was thinking last night, wonder how many Sky Watch people were looking at the same thing I was… sorta neat ey?

I think you and your little camera took some great shots of the moon. Funny, as I taking moon pictures I was thinking the same thing.

These are wonderful. These moon photos make me want to return to that wonderful book from my college days, The Cosmic Mother. The moon has fascinated us from the beginning of our time! God bless.

I was one of those taking shots of the moon. However, I was a wimp and stay in the house and opened the bathroom window and took the pictures from there. I closed the window in between shots because it was so darn cool. But it was amazing to watch. I love your pictures by the way!

I agree that your pictures are excellent. I think your camera takes very good photos. We got home early from work and the eclipse was just beginning so I ran in and got my camera. It was about -7 here and I tried to get a few shots but my camera isn't the best. I could only get a few blurry pinpoints of light so I watched from inside with my binoculars. It was very beautiful and awe inspiring. I'm glad you were able to get some good shots for postarity.

Thanks for all of your kind words.

Clarification about my camera:

My camera was not meant to take such distance shots…the fact we, the camera and I pulled some good shots off was in part luck and having a Photo Program on my PC.

I suppose the biggest thrill was seeing a ‘blank’ photo, but once in the Photo Edit program, lo and behold there was something there…

I rather liken it to be in a cyber Darkroom. I grew up with a father that had a darkroom and taught me as much as he could…I learned on Black and white, the entire process…
Really neat actually as I reflect…Ummmm Pun there HA

There's nothing like a lunar eclipse to create mass camera envy, eh? I wonder what digital camera sales are like these days.

Fun blog.
