Astonishing but a pleasure

I was standing on the upper porch looking down into the yard surveying the wonders of my environment… the Creek, the trees, the cats running about chasing the birds as the bird feeders beckoned a tasting event. FOOD AGAIN? Well Thanksgiving is fast approaching don’t ya know?

~~~~~~~~~
As my gaze scoped the panoramic view my eyes were suddenly glued to one spot. What was that dash of color amongst the leaves? Goodness there was a flash of blue and white.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I quickly turned the clothes dryer on and dashed downstairs and outside to further investigate. Monday is Wash Day. Remember LONG AGO, in a far and distant place, tee hee! It went like this:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monday: Wash Day
~
Tuesday: Ironing Day
~
Wednesday: Sewing Day
~
Thursday: Market Day
~
Friday: Cleaning Day
~
Saturday: Baking Day
~
Sunday: Day of Rest
NYC Monday Morning Wash Day Postcard 1906
At any hoot ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was a balmy 55 degrees and the smells of the woods were overwhelming. Lo and Behold there they were, the new crocus bulbs I planted less than a month ago blooming their silly heads off. Startled me. But as I gazed at their newborn glory it made me happy that they like where I chose to plant them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

...Ummmm there is a saying I have seen on posters… Mary Engelbreit.
I hastily began raking leaves over this particular area to make sure the wee plants were protected. The area was raked to make the planting of the many bulbs easier for me. I just added, today, a soft blanket so they could snuggle down for the winter. Oh no it did not stop there I raked the entire front yard, knowing full well that in the morning it would look as if I had not even been there. I was correct, as I sit in my Nook and look out there are as many leaves down that HAD been there yesterday. Sigh and oh well, raking is fun…still too wet to make a JUMPING pile. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WHY was I surprised? ?????????????????? I forgot these are Fall blooming crocuses DUH! The blue one, speciosus 'Conqueror' – The white one, Crocus speciosus Albus; But where is the CROCUS Kotschyanus? The Pink one! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maybe today they will peek out at me.
